EPFO tracks two related but separate things: your PF balance (the money) and your EPS service history (the years that count toward pension eligibility and amount). A PF transfer can complete perfectly, your balance can look exactly right, and your EPS service can still be wrong, short, or missing entirely. Most people never notice until they're much closer to retirement or filing a pension claim — by then, it's harder to fix.
Four patterns account for most cases we see.
The document that's supposed to carry your service details forward during a PF transfer — when it's missing or incorrect, EPS service can silently fail to follow the transfer. Full Annexure K guide →
If you've worked at several employers, each Member ID can hold a fragment of your EPS service that was never consolidated into one continuous record.
Some employers handle the PF contribution correctly but mishandle the EPS portion specifically — a narrower, easier-to-miss error.
Brief employment periods are more likely to have incomplete service records, and their EPS portion is easy to lose track of entirely.
Not just your current one — EPS service can be scattered across all of them.
Check each Member ID's recorded EPS service against your actual joining and exit dates for that employer.
Gaps most often appear right around a PF transfer between employers — that's where Annexure K issues surface.
A missing Annexure K, an uncorrected service gap, or a consolidation issue across Member IDs each have a different fix — the right one depends on what's actually wrong.
This is easiest to correct well before a pension claim, when employment records and employer contacts are still available — not after a rejection.
Safety note: EPS/service-history corrections go entirely through official EPFO forms and portals. NidhiSetu never asks for your UAN password, Aadhaar OTP, or bank login — screenshots can be masked before sending for review.
Send me a masked view of your service history across all your Member IDs and I'll tell you honestly whether something looks missing.
Send your details here instead — I read every submission myself and reply within 24 hours.
