Most members have never heard of Annexure K until something goes wrong years later. Your PF can transfer perfectly while your pension service history quietly doesn't — and you often only discover it when you need that history to be complete.
When your PF account transfers from one PF office to another — usually because you changed jobs and your new employer falls under a different regional office — two things need to move, not one:
The straightforward part — your provident fund corpus moves to your new account via Form 13. ✓ Usually transfers cleanly
A separate internal document — Annexure K — carries your pensionable service and wage history so your new PF office can continue your EPS account correctly. ✓ This is the part that goes missing
The PF transfer completes, but the separate pension-service handoff is skipped by the old office. ✓ Request it be generated
A data-entry error on the annexure itself, carried forward silently. ✓ Correction request with proof
Your PF moves on schedule but Annexure K lags — sometimes by months — creating a temporary but real gap. ✓ Follow up with new PF office
A manual inter-office step that occasionally falls through entirely, especially across state/region boundaries. ✓ Escalate via EPFiGMS
Each transfer is a fresh chance for the same issue — a career with several regional moves is more exposed. ✓ Check every past transfer
Employers running their own PF trust don't always handle the EPS/Annexure K handoff the same way as regular employers when you move to an EPFO-covered employer. ✓ Needs specific follow-up with the trust
The exact sequence to find and correct this.
On the UAN member portal, compare your recorded pensionable service against your actual employment timeline — look for a gap around any past transfer.
Pin down the specific PF-to-PF office move where the gap starts. This determines which two offices need to coordinate the fix.
Request confirmation of whether Annexure K was received for that transfer, citing the transfer claim ID and dates.
This sometimes needs a written request or an EPFiGMS grievance if the office doesn't act on a simple follow-up.
Inter-office coordination issues are exactly what the grievance portal exists to force action on.
Especially important if you're heading toward pension eligibility or a higher-pension (EPS-95) claim — verify the fix actually reflects before you file.
