This almost always means your old employer's Date of Exit was never marked, so EPFO's records still show you as 'active' there even after you left โ not that you actually worked two jobs. Pull your UAN service history and check the DOE field for your previous employer first.

Gather these now โ you'll need them whichever route this ends up taking.
Showing both employers and their DOJ/DOE fields.
Or your final payslip, as proof of your actual last working day.
Showing your declared DOJ.
The BGV agency or new employer's exact wording.
Follow this in order โ skipping ahead usually costs more time, not less.
If it's blank or wrong, this is almost certainly why the overlap is showing.
Via UAN portal โ Employer login. This alone usually resolves the overlap.
You and your current employer can file this with supporting evidence to correct the record independently.
A relieving letter and a documented correction-in-progress usually satisfies BGV agencies while the EPFO side catches up.
The overlap should disappear from your record within a few days.
Ask directly for the DOE correction that's most likely causing the overlap flag.
