Online claims need your UAN, Aadhaar, and employer approval all pointing to the same verified record. When any one link in that chain is missing, EPFO blocks the claim rather than risk it going to the wrong person.
This isn't one problem — it's usually one of these distinct breakdowns in the chain:
OTP-based verification needs your current Aadhaar-registered mobile — an old or changed number blocks it silently. ✓ Update with UIDAI, or use biometric
A separate, earlier step from Aadhaar-linking — if this failed, linking Aadhaar won't work either. ✓ Activate UAN first
You can self-link Aadhaar via OTP, but your employer still needs to digitally approve it for the claim to fully clear. ✓ Follow up with employer
e-KYC verification checks name matching too — this overlaps with the name-mismatch rejection reason. ✓ Joint Declaration first
A data-entry error at onboarding created a mismatch that self-service can't correct. ✓ Employer must correct via portal
UIDAI's verification service occasionally times out — a genuine technical issue, not a data problem. ✓ Retry, or use biometric route
The exact sequence for this specific rejection reason.
Log into the UAN member portal directly — if you can't, activation itself is the first thing to fix, before Aadhaar linking.
OTP verification will silently fail if your current number isn't the one registered with UIDAI. Update it at an Aadhaar centre if needed.
Enter your Aadhaar number and complete OTP verification. If OTP repeatedly fails, use biometric authentication at a nearby Common Service Centre instead.
Follow up with your current or last employer to digitally approve the seeded Aadhaar — this is a separate step from your own linking.
Once Aadhaar shows "Verified" and employer-approved, refile your claim — it should proceed through the fully online route.
Safety note: NidhiSetu uses official EPFO routes only. Do not share your UAN password, Aadhaar OTP, bank OTP, ATM PIN, or net-banking login with any consultant. You can mask sensitive details before sending screenshots for review.
