'Aadhaar authentication failed' on EPFO login? Here's why, and the fix.
This error means EPFO couldn't verify you against Aadhaar, usually because your name or date of birth differs between Aadhaar and your EPFO KYC. It's different from a UAN freeze or an OTP that never arrives.
The short answer
- Likely cause
- Your name or date of birth differs between Aadhaar and your EPFO KYC, or there's a biometric or OTP verification issue at UIDAI's end.
- The fix
- Compare both records field by field, correct whichever is wrong (Aadhaar through UIDAI, EPFO KYC on the UAN portal), then retry once the update settles.
- Get help when
- Your details match but it still fails after contacting the EPFO helpdesk (14470), and it needs an EPFiGMS grievance.
