CLAIM ALREADY SETTLED
Where it appears: The rejection remark on Form 19, 10C and Form 13 claims, under Track Claim Status.
Also "claim already settled against this member Id.", often as the second of two reasons.
- What it means
- EPFO's record shows a claim of the same type already settled on this member ID.
- The fix
- Check your passbook and claim history. If money is still there, or you never received the payment, write to the PF office or file a grievance with the passbook.
- Get help when
- You never received the earlier payment, or contributions keep arriving on a settled ID.
I never ask for your OTP, UAN password or bank login.
What it means
The office found that a claim on this member ID was already paid, so it won't pay the same claim again. That is right if you filed twice. It is a problem when contributions reached the ID after settlement, or when you never got the first payment.
Why it happens
- You, or someone on your behalf, filed the same claim earlier and it was paid.
- Contributions or interest were credited after the ID was settled, leaving a balance the system won't release on a fresh claim.
- A transfer was filed for an ID that was already withdrawn.
What you can do yourself (free, on the EPFO portal)
Everything in this list is done on EPFO's own portal or with your employer, and none of it needs a paid agent. I never ask for your OTP, UAN password or bank login, and nobody else should either.
- Open Track Claim Status and the passbook for that member ID. Note any earlier settled claim, its date and amount.
- Check your bank statement for that date. If the money arrived, the rejection is correct.
- If there is a balance left, or you never received the payment, file a grievance on EPFiGMS with the passbook and bank statement attached.
- If nothing moves, file a grievance on EPFiGMS. It is EPFO's own grievance portal and it costs nothing. Quote your UAN and the exact message, and keep the grievance number.
When it needs help
- You never received the earlier payment.
- There is a balance left on a settled ID.
- Someone may have filed a claim without your knowledge.

Questions people ask about this message
I never received the money. What do I do?
File a grievance on EPFiGMS with your bank statement for the settlement date. Ask EPFO for the payment details of the settled claim.
There's still a balance on the settled ID. Can I withdraw it?
Yes, but usually through the PF office rather than a fresh online claim. A grievance with the passbook is the usual start.
