No contribution was received date of exit updation is not possible please contact your employer
Where it appears: The EPFO member portal, under Manage → Mark Exit, when you select a Member ID.
Reported with slightly different punctuation and spelling ("recieved"), for example: "No contribution was received. Date of exit updation is not possible, please contact your employer."
- What it means
- EPFO has no contribution recorded on that Member ID, so it won't let you mark exit yourself.
- The fix
- Check that Member ID's passbook. If you never worked there, it may need delinking; if PF was deducted, it's a deposit problem; otherwise the employer marks exit.
- Get help when
- PF was deducted from your salary but never deposited, or the employer has closed.
I never ask for your OTP, UAN password or bank login.
What it means
Members can mark their own exit only on a Member ID that has contributions. This one has none on record, so the portal hands the job back to the employer.
Why it happens
- The employer created the Member ID but never deposited any PF on it.
- Your contributions were filed under a different Member ID.
- The Member ID was linked to your UAN by mistake and was never yours.
What you can do yourself (free, on the EPFO portal)
Everything in this list is done on EPFO's own portal or with your employer, and none of it needs a paid agent. I never ask for your OTP, UAN password or bank login, and nobody else should either.
- Open the passbook for that Member ID and confirm there are no contributions.
- If you never worked for that employer, the Member ID may be wrongly linked. See the UAN delink guide.
- If you did work there and PF was deducted from your salary, keep your payslips: this is a non-deposit problem, and the guide below explains the complaint route.
- Otherwise, ask the employer's HR in writing to mark your date of exit from the employer portal.
- If nothing moves, file a grievance on EPFiGMS. It is EPFO's own grievance portal and it costs nothing. Quote your UAN and the exact message, and keep the grievance number.
When it needs help
- PF was deducted but never deposited.
- The employer has closed and can't mark exit.
- The Member ID isn't yours and delinking is blocked.

Questions people ask about this message
Does this mean my PF is lost?
Not necessarily. First check whether PF was ever deducted for that job. If it was, the problem is the employer's deposit, not your record.
Can I mark exit on a different Member ID instead?
Only on the Member ID for the job you actually left. Marking the wrong one causes new problems.
