Aadhaar is not available against UAN, Kindly seed Aadhaar through employer

Aadhaar is not available against UAN, Kindly seed Aadhaar through employer

Where it appears: Members report it on the EPFO member portal, usually at login or when they start an online service such as a claim.

Some members see it with a full stop instead of the comma, or with "the employer" at the end. The meaning is the same.

The short answer
What it means
No verified Aadhaar is seeded against your UAN in EPFO's records.
The fix
Your employer seeds and approves your Aadhaar in the employer portal. Your name, date of birth and gender in EPFO must match Aadhaar first.
Get help when
Your employer has closed or won't act, or the details don't match and need correcting first.

What it means

EPFO's record for your UAN has no verified Aadhaar number linked to it. Most online services on the member portal work only for a UAN that is linked to a verified Aadhaar, so the portal stops you and tells you to get Aadhaar seeded through your employer.

It is a record problem, not a problem with your money. Your balance is untouched; you just can't use the online services until the link is in place.

Why it happens

  • Your UAN was created without Aadhaar and it was never added afterwards. This is common on older UANs.
  • Aadhaar was added but never approved by the employer, so it is not verified.
  • Seeding was tried but failed because your name, date of birth or gender in EPFO doesn't match Aadhaar exactly.

What you can do yourself (free, on the EPFO portal)

Everything in this list is done on EPFO's own portal or with your employer, and none of it needs a paid agent. I never ask for your OTP, UAN password or bank login, and nobody else should either.

  1. Compare the name, date of birth and gender EPFO holds for you (your HR can see them, and they're on old payslips or your UAN card) with your Aadhaar. They must match letter for letter.
  2. If they match, ask your current employer's HR to seed your Aadhaar against your UAN in the employer portal and approve it. EPFO's own FAQ says KYC such as Aadhaar and bank details is approved by the employer with a digital signature.
  3. If you've left and your last employer is still running, send the same request to their HR in writing. Keep a copy.
  4. Once HR confirms it's approved, log in again. If the message has gone, check Manage → KYC to confirm Aadhaar shows as verified before you file any claim.
  5. If nothing moves, file a grievance on EPFiGMS. It is EPFO's own grievance portal and it costs nothing. Quote your UAN and the exact message, and keep the grievance number.

When it needs help

  • Your employer has shut down, or has stopped replying.
  • Seeding keeps failing because the details don't match, and you're not sure which record to correct.
  • You have a claim or a job-offer deadline riding on it.

Which guide covers it

The fix route for this message is in Claim blocked because Aadhaar isn't linked to your UAN.

Who this page doesn't help

If your Aadhaar already shows as verified under Manage → KYC and the problem is that the OTP never arrives, this isn't your page: see UAN OTP not received. If Aadhaar authentication fails with a mismatch message, see that error's page.
