PF partial withdrawal calculator: how much you can take out under the EPF Scheme 2026
Enter the three passbook totals, your months of membership and what the money is for. You get the 25% Minimum Balance that must stay, the Eligible Member Balance you can claim up to, the 12-month test and the frequency cap for that purpose, as in paragraphs 46 to 48 of the EPF Scheme 2026.
Indicative only. The figures above are worked out from what you entered, in your browser, and are not stored anywhere. They are not advice and not a filing. The consultation is where your passbook and service history get checked. NidhiSetu is independent and not affiliated with EPFO or ESIC; their own services are free.
How this is calculated
- Total balance = employee share + employer share + interest, as entered.
- Minimum Balance = 25% of the total; it must remain in the account after the withdrawal (paragraph 46(1), Explanation).
- Eligible Member Balance = total minus Minimum Balance. Every purpose allows up to the full Eligible Member Balance; the minimum withdrawal is ₹1,000.
- Membership test: 12 months' total membership for every purpose, or exit from employment before 12 months (paragraph 46(5)).
- Frequency: education 10, marriage 5, housing 5 during membership; special circumstances 2 in a financial year; illness none stated. Counts reset from the Scheme's commencement.
- Payment goes to a Scheduled Bank, Co-operative Bank or post office account seeded against your UAN (paragraph 48). A bank mismatch still stops the claim.
- Rule text: paragraphs 46 to 48 of the EPF Scheme 2026, pages 87 to 89; explained in the PF partial withdrawal rules 2026 post.
Questions about this tool
Which figures do I enter?
The three totals from View → Passbook on the member portal: employee share, employer share and the interest on both. Do not add the pension (EPS) contribution; it is not part of the Fund balance that paragraph 46 works on. If your passbook already shows interest inside each share, enter 0 for interest.
How is the Eligible Member Balance worked out?
Minimum Balance = 25% of the total (employee share + employer share + interest), which must stay in the account. Eligible Member Balance = total minus Minimum Balance. Every purpose in paragraph 46 allows up to the full Eligible Member Balance; the minimum withdrawal is ₹1,000.
What counts towards the 12 months?
Paragraph 47: earlier EPF membership, membership of an exempted establishment's PF trust, service under the same employer before the Scheme applied, and membership as an employee exempted under section 143 of the Code, as long as you did not withdraw the PF for that period. Transferred-in member IDs count; a balance you settled in full does not. Count what your service history shows on the member ID you will claim from.
What are the frequency caps?
Education up to 10 times and marriage up to 5 times during membership; housing (purchase, site, construction, home-loan repayment, additions or renovation) up to 5 times; special circumstances up to twice in a financial year; illness has no stated cap. Paragraph 46(6) resets the counts from the Scheme's commencement, so count only withdrawals taken since 1 July 2026.
Is this what EPFO will sanction?
No. It applies the rule to the figures you enter. EPFO sanctions on the balance and membership it sees on your record, and a KYC, bank or exit-date problem can still stop the claim. The result is a starting point, not a decision.
